Smarter, Faster, Better: How New Technology is Improving Efficiency and Quality at FP

At Federal Package we are always looking for ways to increase our efficiency, eliminate errors in production, and provide clear, consistent communication for our staff. QAD Redzone has done that and more with its software that allows our frontline workers, supervisors, and other staff to access real-time production line information.

In early 2023, we connected QAD Redzone to each of our production and assembly lines across our facility to collect data on the performance of each machine. This provides our teams, from our shift supervisors to our quality assurance team, with precise data to see where we are running smoothly and where we need to adjust.

Robert Legon, Operational Excellence Coach from QAD Redzone has been part of the integration at Federal Package from the beginning. He said, “To see a whole company jump onto the Application so quickly was a delight - the buy-in was fantastic from all shifts and all departments. And to see that resonate into business results like reduced downtime, growing output, and improving standard rates is the goal!”

“QAD Redzone has helped us react more quickly to run rate reductions and what’s causing them to better quoting models for customer product. Long term, we’re excited about being able to trend data and dig deeper into specific lines and individual equipment downtime codes to build better preventative maintenance programs and prevent outages,” Melissa Niebes, President and Chief Commercial Officer.

In six months with QAD Redzone, Federal Package has seen a 26% gain in productivity and more than 400 successful instances of effective employee-to-employee knowledge transfer. This has resulted in a 41% reduction in downtime! These gains help us maintain consistent and efficient production lines, keep our staff safe and engaged, and allow us to deliver the best product possible to our customers.
